IN VETRA SINCE 1989, AN AUTHENTIC MILANESE TRATTORIA

In Piazza Vetra, at the foot of the Basilica and just steps from the Columns and Porta Ticinese, Cantina della Vetra was born: first a wine bar, then a trattoria, always faithful to its origins.

It was 1989 and Milan was racing towards modernity. We chose a different path: good wines, simple dishes, sincere conversations.

In the Vetra district, the ancient glassmakers’ neighborhood, we found our home.

We are sheltered by the apse of the Basilica of San Lorenzo, in the shade of the elms of the Parco delle Basiliche, between Carrobbio, Porta Genova, and Ticinese: a crossroads of eras and authentically Milanese stories.

In the ’90s, next to us, stood the Versace Theater: after the shows, designers and artisans gathered here to toast, blending elegance and simplicity. That sparkling Milan has changed, but the spirit remains: a trattoria where no one is superfluous and everyone feels welcome.

At Cantina della Vetra, the kitchen and smiles are at home

We welcome Milanese and travelers with the same philosophy: good food and sincere hospitality, without chasing trends or photogenic dishes.

We cook like in the old days: carefully selected ingredients, recipes prepared without artifice, and service that puts a smile at the center.

The menu offers our Milanese cuisine alongside a few “out-of-town” journeys. With few rules, all simple: generous portions, fair prices, and the desire to make those who sit at our tables feel good.

Wine: our first passion

As the name suggests, before the kitchen, there was wine.
Today, the wine list retains that same passion, with Italian labels and small artisanal productions carefully selected.

Every glass accompanies a dish and an encounter: because drinking well is part of conviviality, and a full glass is the perfect symbol of our philosophy.
